Before Your Appointment
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring the following:
- Photo ID
- Insurance card
- Current list of medications
- Any relevant medical records or referral letters
- Co-Pay
- Sunglasses for post-dilation comfort
Do I need a referral to see a retina specialist?
Some insurance plans require a referral. Please check with your referring provider to confirm.
Will my eyes be dilated during the appointment?
Yes! Dilation is the most accurate method for our physicians to examine the back of your eyes, allowing them to properly diagnose and treat your condition. After the exam, your eyes will generally remain dilated for 3 to 4 hours. Some patients may experience light sensitivity and difficulty in reading or close work. Patients also may have difficulty driving so you may want to have someone drive you to your appointment. We also offer reversal drops that can typically reduce the duration of dilation by half. Please note that this is an out-of-pocket expense if you are interested.
