Patient Policies

We provide high-quality care and want to ensure you are well-informed about our practices and policies. Please take a moment to review the information below to help us make your experience a positive one.

Appointment Policy

Our goal is to provide quality medical care in a timely manner. As such, we have outlined our office policy regarding missed appointments. The policy allows us to better utilize available appointments for patients in need of care.

We define Missed Appointments as one of the following:

1. The patient does not show up for their appointment or call to cancel it (Commonly referred to as No Show).

OR

2. The patient canceled their appointment too late to permit us to fill the vacant time slot.

Patients are expected to attend appointments as scheduled. If it is necessary to cancel your scheduled appointment, we require that you call at least 24 hours in advance.

Below are common appointment-related instances, and how River City Retina Consultants will attempt to manage them.

Please note: Extreme cases will inevitably arise, we will approach them as best possible.

Missed Appointments

First missed appointment – We will try to assist you in rescheduling your appointment at a time that is least likely to be missed, forgotten, or interrupted.
Second missed appointment – Your ocular health is important to us, and we will try to reschedule you. However, your preferred appointment time of day may not be available and/or it may be several weeks before we are able to get you back on the schedule.
Third missed appointment – Depending on the circumstances, we may not be able to schedule appointments for you, and dismissal from the practice may be considered.
Repeated missed appointments without proper cancellation – You may be dismissed from the practice.

Late arrivals

We understand that delays can occasionally happen; however, we must try our best to keep the doctors on schedule. If a patient arrives more than 15 minutes past their scheduled time, we may have to reschedule your appointment.
   • If seen, you will be called according to your arrival time, not your original appointment time.
