About Dr. Yunker

Dr. Yunker was born and raised in Maysville, Kentucky. He attended medical school at the University of Louisville and completed his residency at the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital in Birmingham, where he was selected as Chief Resident by his fellow residents and faculty. Afterward, he completed a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery with Retina Consultants of Alabama. Dr. Yunker is passionate about teaching; he received the Brass Apple teaching award and served as an Assistant Professor of Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Kentucky.

In addition to publishing papers on retinal diseases, Dr. Yunker has been a co-instructor for courses covering diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and vitreoretinal surgical techniques at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also an avid basketball fan, and his hobbies include running, watching movies, and spending quality time with his family.
