About Dr. Harper

Dr. Harper is originally from Greenville, Kentucky. Before pursuing his medical education, he worked as a chemical engineer in the nuclear power industry. He completed his medical training in Louisville and then went on to finish his ophthalmology residency and retina fellowship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. Following his fellowship, he was honored by the faculty with a one-year appointment as Chief Resident, where he supervised and taught surgical techniques to other residents. He joined the staff at River City Retina Consultants in 2009.

Dr. Harper’s clinical interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, trauma, and advanced surgical techniques. In his free time, he enjoys live music, watching films and theater, traveling, studying history, and spending time with his family. He is proud to call the “River City” his home.
